Cupcake Day

Dsc00282_2 Dsc00281 Dsc00280 Dsc00275 Dsc00274
Am I the only one who never knew that your half birthday is called "Cupcake Day" (mine is November 12th btw).  That's one of the many things I learned yesterday at a cupcake theme craft class.  Karen Lockhart (the instructor of yesterdays class and who reminds me of Ina Garten) creates stamps which range in theme from cupcakes to vegetable couture.  Typically I am not a fan of rubber stamping.  Rubber stamps along with scrapbooking just strike me as crafts you take up during your mid-life years and beyond (sorry if that comment offends anyone).  But when I learned of the cupcake rubber stamp class I just had to see what the fuss was all about.  Karen works solely with colored pencils, a medium I adore, to color in her stamps.  My favorite brand of colored pencils being Prismacolor, their quality is superb.  Karen is a great proponent of layering colors and shading.  I definitely can see how the layering of colors adds a new dimension to the pictures.  Despite that I was the youngest person at the class by at least twenty years I did have a bit of fun and some of you can expect to see some cupcake cards in your mailboxes very soon.

How could I not know of cupcake day?!? An extra day to celebrate something with cupcakes involved is such good news...

Oh Jeez...does that mean I have to wait until May 13th to have a cupcake?

Can't do it!

That damn NY Cupcakes *still* hasn't opened at Westlake Park yet V!

Ooh, Cupcake Day - there IS a god! So mine would be June 8 - three days before I head to Europe - won't do much for my aim to be trim and terrific!

Sounds like an adorable day!

So sorry for your disappointing cupcake experience! Have you tried Cupcake Royale/Verite Coffee in Seattle yet? Love them so much, and found them to look and taste amazing. I hit one of their stores every time I'm in Seattle (Magnolia or Ballard).

T

Who knew? I just missed mine! Oh well, must make it up this weekend, then. Happy belated C-Cake birthday, and the crafts look adorbs.
